Week 47 Transfer Week

Tuesday, July 24th, 2018

Dear Mom,

This week is transfer week and I will be transferred to Morgan City, LA. It is below New Orleans and a bit to the west. I am super excited!!!
Monday was a pretty good P-day, we played basketball and then volleyball with the Sisters and other Elders in the Zone. We then went and all got lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings for Elder Wiscombe's birthday. Then we emailed and that night we went to the Zelaya's house for dinner which is a first since I've been in this area, normally it's just at their restaurant. They had some really really good food and they stuffed us full!
Tuesday we had exchanges with the Columbia Elders. I had Elder Lakey with me and we were able to see a few people but not very many. The Valenzuelas brought food to the church for us because they weren't going to be home and it was really good. They were Mexican Hawaiian Burgers.
Wednesday we had District Meeting and it went really well, a bit long, but really well. We now have district meeting at 11:00am instead of 1:00pm and then lunch after. Our meeting went until 1:00 and that was with trying to cut things out and make it faster. We had some really good discussions and we were able to truly council together. It was great. We then all went to Chick-Fil-A for lunch and I wasn't going to get any food because I didn't want to pay but then Tanner asked me what I wanted and paid for me which was very kind of him. Then that afternoon/evening we found two people who are super awesome and we taught them a Restoration lesson. They were super engaged and loved it and they accepted a baptismal date. We were also able to visit a few other people and have another lesson or two.
Thursday was good but we had a ton of calls to make. We did our studies and then we had a call with our Zone Leaders. Then we went to visit an investigator and we were actually able to meet with her which has been a rare thing lately. We had a really good lesson with her and she really appreciated it. We went to our next appointment but it fell through. We then came back and we had lunch and did our weekly planning. We also made about 6 different important business type calls that we had to make. Some for our car, some for our apartment etc. . .It kinda wore me out to be honest. It was a lot. We then went and had an early dinner with President Cardenas and his wife. Then we came back and tried to visit a bunch of people. Our lesson that we had planned for our main investigator at a member's house got cancelled because the members kids were sick so that kinda stunk. It was an interesting day.
Friday we went to the track in the morning as we have been doing most of this transfer. We wake up at 6 so that we can have the time to do so and be back in time for studies. We then did our studies and then we started exchanges with the oak Grove Elders. I took Elder Starks and a youth that was with them to Laurel with me to have lunch with some members. It was fun, I translated a lot for them but there was some that they could understand. Then we came back and we swapped and I took Elder Nally with me and we tried to visit quite an incredible amount of people. Most didn't answer but there was a few. We than all had dinner together that night.
Saturday we all went to get breakfast from the Hardy's Drive-thru and it was some pretty good breakfast. Then for the afternoon I had Elder Nally with me again and again we weren't able to find much success but it was still good. Then that evening we switched back and Elder Stubbs and I had a good lesson with our main investigator and then we went to Tanner's Aunt's house, The Abel's and had dinner with them.
Sunday we only attended the Hburg ward sacrament meeting because our investigators were not able to come, and then we went to branch and we had a part member family come which made me very happy to see them there. After church we had a  couple different people to visit but they all fell through. We then went to dinner with the Valenzuelas and said bye to them as we were pretty sure that I was going to leave.
Monday was a good last proselyting day in the Purvis Spanish area. We went to the track, had studies, and then we went to Columbia to have lunch with the Zelayas and I said goodbye. Before we left to go there, we received a call that let us know that I would be being transferred to Morgan City below New Orleans and that I would be in an English branch with Elder Brown, but the area has great Spanish potential. That evening we saw a few people and had a good lesson with our main investigator, Earline, and then we tried to visit a couple others. Then that night we went to the Able's to say goodbye and they gave me a little cupcake thing and ice cream for my birthday :) We took pics and had a little family home evening with them.
Today has been a great birthday and P-day so far. We went biking this morning with some other Elders (we came back to the car just so I could do the confetti "cannon" to celebrate at the same time with Rebekah and then we went back and rode some more). Then we went to the church and played basketball and then we all got lunch at Mugshots for my birthday. We then got haircuts, a few of us, and then we came to email. It has been a good, I have appreciated the many, many "Happy Birthdays" I have received today :) I am super excited to serve in Morgan City. Until next week!

Love,
Elder Acton
