Dear Mom,
This last week has been full of out of the ordinary events. We had Zone Conference and 4th of July and the rest of the week had weird things like being at Firestone for 4 hours.
Monday was a lot of fun. We played basketball and then had a nerf war with youth and sisters and then we all went and got Chick-fil-A for lunch. Later that night visited some people and set some more appointments.
Tuesday we had Zone Conference and it was really good. We pulled up and President Varner was grilling burgers for us. We did our own car inspections which was different and then we started the conference. We heard from the AP's (4 of them) and then President and Sister Varner and the Senior Couple Missionaries. he talked a lot about love and trust in us and I feel this is exactly the type of change the mission needs right now. We had burgers and salad for lunch with other sides and it was really good. They gave us Mission shirts which are pretty cool and they gave us Book of Mormon action figures t help remind us of the and give us motivation. We then took fun pictures outside. That evening a bunch of us Elders did some service for some people and many of us were still in our suits which made it difficult. We were lifting big rolls of turf onto a trailer. We had to use pallet lifts and dollies and it was super super heavy and difficult. In the midst of all that, my suit pants got super dirty and they also ripped from the back belt buckle to the zipper in the front. So I had to be careful of how I stood and make sure I was always on the side with the wall behind me. . .Then we went to dinner together at Mugshots, an awesome burger joint. I of course changed my pants first. And then after that we went and got shakes at a really good burger and shake place.
Wednesday was the 4th of July and it was a great day! In the morning we helped a family move and loaded up a large U-haul. It took a good several hours. They also sent us home with a ton of frozen meat and pantry foods and other food. It was awesome!! Then we went to another family's house and ate lunch/dinner with them and then spent time with them playing games and stuff which was a ton of fun! Then we drove back down to the family's house whom we helped move earlier and on the way a big thunder storm hit. We had an appointment to get our tires changed but for the time being they were really bald so we hydroplaned all over the place and I had to just take it slow all the way back to their house. We ended up crossing a road that was also flooded and that was pretty crazy too! Then we got to their house and watched fireworks with them. Their kids are crazy and I loved it.
Thursday was a little interesting. We did our studies and then had some appointments in the morning but they fell through. We then went to Columbia and had lunch with the Zelayas at their restaurant and I had a really good Shrimp PoBoy and apple pie as usual. They are awesome and I love visiting with them. Then we came back and had a good lesson with our investigator who is going to be baptized on the 24th of this month. She and her daughter were going to come to church last week but that Saturday night her nephew got hit and killed by a car and it has been a hard week for her. But we were able to have a really good lesson with her and help her feel the spirit and "feel the best that she's felt all week" which was needed for her. Then we went to our appointment at Firestone to get all 4 tires changed, get an alignment and an oil change. But they said thing happened and they couldn't get us in even though we had an appointment so we rescheduled for Saturday. Then we visited some other people and we had dinner just at home and we used some of the food that we were given.
Friday we had weekly planning that we had to do since we had appointments later in the day we had to split our planning and studies throughout the day so that we could make the appointments. We were able to have a lesson with one of the appointments and then that evening we had dinner with Cardenas family and we had really good enchiladas, which I haven't had since home.
Saturday was a bit different. We had an appointment for our car at Firestone at 10;00am and we ended up being there for 4 hours until a bit after 2:00pm. We then came home and did studies and ate a late lunch/early dinner. Then Tanner came out with us again and we tried to visit people and at least set some more appointments. We then drove to Laurel and visited some people there and got into a good discussion (not quite a bash) about what we believe and it was again in Spanish. Then we visited a family who just had a baby and only the mother is a member. We ended up giving the baby a blessing before we went home.
Sunday, Earline came to church again. She is so ready to be baptized and I am so excited for her! We then went to church at the Spanish branch as well. There were some really good talks in both wards/branches. we had dinner by ourselves and I made pork chops and veggies for us and they turned out to be really good!! Which was a little shocking, but awesome!
Today has been good so far, we played ball as usual and we all ate at Olive Garden. Until next week!
