Dear Mom,
This week has been a really good week. There is a guy that was not able to serve a mission due to some medical issues but his family had worked out for him to come down here and stay with his Aunt and do a sort of mini Mission as a Stake Missionary for about 3 months. He will be working with us for a while. He is 27.
Monday we had a pretty normal P-day, not much happened but we did have a dinner appointment with some members that night and we had Little Caesars pizza but with hot sauce on it..
Tuesday we went to the track and ran a mile and then we played some tennis and we weren't half bad which made it more fun! We had Tanner Sperry (the Stake Missionary) out with us for most of the day. We attempted to visit many of our investigators and we were able to meet with a few of them and have a some good lessons. We just got dinner at taco Bell that night and we did a bit of tracting and talked with this one dude for almost an hour.
Wednesday we normally have district meeting but we had Zone Conference instead. It was a good zone conference and we learned more about our phones and how to use them. We also received some information about the Gladys Knight Devotional that was coming up. President Olson talked to us for ost of the time and we did some fun practices with using our phones to teach. they also always announce a cleanest car of the zone. It is always Sisters who win but Elder Christensen and I beat the odds this time and won. It's cuz we went the extra mile, lol. I cleaned the air filter and scrubbed the mats and took a micro fiber rag to the whole thing to shine it up inside and out, haha. Plus the normal wash and vacuum. We were very glad we won cuz we put in a lot of extra effort and if we didn't it would have for sure been rigged! Anyway that was cool! Shout out to you, Mom and Dad, for teaching me how to go the Extra Mile! Thank you :) That evening we had dinner with some members who speak Mixteco, they are always fun to visit. We had true Hispanic enchiladas which are similar to tacos, they aren't casserole style like most enchiladas.
Thursday was great. We were able to have a good lesson in the morning with one of our investigators and she accepted a baptismal date! Then we were able to have another good lesson with one of our other investigators in Sumrall. After that we went to Colombia and had lunch with a part-member family at their restaurant and shared some scriptures with them. We then had an awesome lesson with one of our investigators who has a baptismal date. After that we had dinner with Tanner and his 2 cousins at his Aunt's house. Then we had Tanner come out with us again and we were able to visit a few of our investigators. We had a good lesson as a Book of Mormon read with one oft hem and she accepted a baptismal date as well, so that made 2 in one day which was awesome!!
Friday, we had our normal studies and then we did weekly planning. After weekly planning Tanner picked us up and then we went and picked up one of our investigators and he drove us all down to Gulfport for the Gladys Knight and her "Saints United Voices Choir" Devotional. We were able to sit up close in one of the last pews because our investigator needed to have a good seat cuz she can't sit super long. It was an amazing performance of really up-beat but really spiritual Gospel music. It was new to listen to that kind of music and clap and stuff in the chapel. Some of the people in the choir have sang on the Voice and the Choir won a Grammy and Gladys gave it to President Hinckley for his 95th birthday. They sounded amazing and Gladys talked about why she is in this church and stuff and it was so wonderful! Then we stopped by rising Canes and tanner paid for all of us, and then we drove home and went to bed.
Saturday, not a lot happened but we drove to Collins Mississippi for the first time and taught a good lesson and gained a new investigator there. Then we came back and to Tanner and we went to Petal and tried visiting a number of people there. We were in a trailer park trying a bunch of former investigators there and were able to talk with one guy for a good hour. Then we went to Runnelstown to try and visit the guy with the chicken farm but they weren't there so that was sad. We tried some others as well but many of them weren't home.
Sunday we went to the Hattiesburg ward, none of our investigators showed up because they either couldn't get there or were sleeping. But we stayed for Sacrament meeting. We then came home and did some studying and then went to the Branch. We had 2 investigators come to church who had never been before and that was really cool. A member brought us food to take home for dinner so we had some enchiladas that night. Saturday I had started to feel a cold coming on and my throat hurt and I was congested and stuff. I drank apple cider vinegar and took extra Vitamin C and such things to make it go away sooner. But Sunday morning it had nonetheless got worse. I woke up feeling awful. I had a really bad headache and my sinuses were swollen and it caused my jaw to ache and my lymph nodes were swollen and it wasn't cool. It made it into kind of a long day. I felt like I had been hit by a truck and I couldn't focus very well. There are a number of other Elders who have got real bad colds as well and my companion was one of them so I probably got it from him or from the people that we are around daily. Anyway we got home and I took more vitamin C and drank some warm apple cider vinegar and stuff and I went to sleep for 2 hours. I felt a little better, we went and got some stuff from the ZL's at Walmart that they needed to give us and then we went home and ate dinner and I went to bed again.
This morning I have felt better but the congestion is still there. We played ball and had a good time but it hurt my chest and it has been very annoying. Then we went and rode our bikes on some fun trails. That was a lot of fun and it was nice to get on my bike again. Anyway, it was a pretty good week and I have enjoyed it, besides being sick. I hope that this next week is a great one as well. Transfers are coming up on May 10th and one of us is probably going to leave. If anyone is gonna send me anything, please do so before the 3rd of May and then wait until after transfers and I am in my new area or confirmed that I am still here. This transfer will most likely tell us who might be going to Dallas out of the Spanish Missionaries and who will be staying in the South. It is a scary transfer!
I love you mom! I hope you have a fantastic week!
