Querido Madre,
Buenos Dias! Como esta?? Como fue su semana? Estoy muy bien. Este manana nosotros jugamos mucho basquetbol y me gusta mucho!! Fue muy divertido!
We went to the track twice I think, maybe played tennis once, and we played basketball with some older guys in the ward on Wednesday. It feels great to get some good exercise. No more crazy weather, just some rain on Sunday and a few hotter days throughout the week, in the 80's.
So this week has been pretty good. Monday was good, we helped a couple move in the morning, so we weren't able to play basketball but it was good that we were there to help. We spent most of the rest of our P-day with the Oak Grove Elders, getting food to eat, go to stores and stopping by McDonalds to see a youth who works there. It was a fun day.
Tuesday was awesome because we finally had some success. We were able to go to the track for a bit, we both ran a mile or more and then we went and played some tennis. Then later in the day after trying to meet with our investigators and having no luck one of them answered and let us talk with her. We were able to have a really good lesson and she accepted to be baptized and we helped set a date to do so as a goal. After that we were pretty happy and excited. She was also super excited when we told her about Gladys Knight coming to Gulfport to do a devotional and that we could get her a free ticket. That evening we went to a member's house for dinner and Sister Valezuela made us what she calls, Mexican-Hawaiian Burgers. She had guacamole and mix of peppers and other things sauteed and then grilled pineapple slices to put on the burgers. They were so good!! I really enjoyed them! We then had a really good lesson with them as we taught about unity and talked about the branch and the work it needs and what we all need to do and change.
Wednesday in the morning we played basketball with the Oak Grove Elders and the older guys in the ward who play basketball on Wednesday mornings. it was fun. Then we had district meeting and the ZL's came. It was good and I enjoyed it. Then later we were able to have a good lesson with one of our investigators whom we haven't seen in a while. That night we just ate dinner at our apartment.
Thursday we went to the track again for exercise and then for lunch we went to Colombia and visited a part-member family at their restaurant. They always feed us so I tried fried catfish for the first time and I really like it. It was really good. Then we came back home and tried to visit some people and then we had dinner with our branch mission leader and his wife. We also did branch correlation while there with him. Then we went to an appointment with one of our investigators and we taught them about The Plan of Salvation in Spanish.
Friday we drove to Laurel and we met the Elder ups there and got Spanish referrals from them of the people they have met that would like to learn more but speak Spanish. We tried vising a number of people up there and met a few and then had dinner with some members that live up there. We had some pretty good tacos.
Saturday we did service to help out one of our investigators because she was in charge of a big bike ride called the Hattie-hundred. We helped the bikers after they would finish we were in the sun for a couple hours and it was pretty toasty. We both got burnt a bit, a little more on one side than the other. Later that day we drove out to Runnelstown which is past Hattiesburg and past Petal and we went to visit some investigators over there. He is the one who has a chicken farm with 14 million chickens! We visited some people in Hattiesburg and then we were able to see some investigators we have that live in the hood. They are so fun to talk with, they are super excited about going to the Gladys Knight devotional!
Sunday we went to the Hattiesburg ward becasue we had investigators who were going to be attending, but the either got sick or had to babysit so they weren't able to make it. Then we had branch counsel before branch. Our investigators who were going to come to the branch also were sick and were not able to make it. after church we had a going away potluck because one of the members is going back down to Mexico to be with his family. That night we met some people and talked with them on their porch for awhile. Today the Elders from Meridian, which is close to Jackson, are here because we have Zone Conference this week. So we were able to do 5 on 5 basketball and we had some really awesome games!! It was intense and a lot of fun!! Then we all went to Taco Bell for lunch. It was a great week and I love being a Missionary! Until next week.
Love,
