Dear Mom,
This last week has been a good one of missionary work and it has been super nice these last couple days because it has been cool! I hope that it continues to stay cool. Summer this year, as we have been told, was multiple weeks longer than usual and it has been a lot hotter than it normally is this time of year. I am so excited for winter and some cooler weather!! And Oh My Gosh I miss SNOW!!!
Monday was another proselyting day because this last week was transfer week and P-day was on Tuesday. I didn't have time to include Monday with last week's email. We had a good morning of studying and lunch and then we went tracting for a couple hours and we met a super cool guy and had a great lesson with him. We then went to visit some kids we are teaching and their dad just went off on a bible rant. After that, throughout the day we had multiple good lessons here and then we had some good lessons in Franklin as well.
Tuesday was P-day and we drove up to Kenner for a doctor's appointment for Elder Cannon and then we went to the Kenner Elder's apartment to do our laundry. They weren't there but they let us use their washer and dryer. We went to the library for a bit between loads and by the time it was done, it was time to head back home. We visited some people in Amelia on our way through and then visited some people in Morgan City and we had some short little lessons.
Wednesday we did some service in the morning by going to the clinic in Morgan City and translating for a Hispanic sister in the branch. We then came home and did our studies and had some lunch. We decided to ride our bikes for the day because it felt cool outside so we then headed out to a lesson in Bayou Vista. After that lesson we tried to visit someone else nearby and got stuck in a convo with a guy that just wanted to bash us and didn't want to learn. Then we rode our bikes through Patterson to Jeanne's. We then visited some other people nearby and then biked across the freeway to the other side of Patterson and tracted there until our appointment that night. We had a great lesson with a Hispanic family and then we tracted the rest of the night.
Thursday we did a few studies in the morning and then we got picked up by Brother Seumanu and we went to the house of an older sister in the ward and we mowed her lawn and I weed wacked around the house and cars and other stuff in her yard. It was fun. I miss doing yard work. We then came home, did some more studies, had lunch, did our weekly planning and then went to an appointment but it fell through. We visited someone in Morgan City and had a good little lesson with him and then we went to Amelia and had some good lessons and tracted for the night. We met lots of new people and we even found a guy we were teaching who had to move to Houston to help his brother, but he moved back and we knocked his door as he was living in a totally different place than before.
Friday we spent 2 and 1/2 hours helping some people move. We packed half of their large Penske truck with lots of furniture and boxes and we moved tons of other furniture outside. Then we came home got ready and left for district council in Houma. We had a good district council, got to meet the 2 new sisters in our district and then we went to Sam's Club for lunch. after lunch, we came back, did some studies and then went to a lesson. We tried to see another guy but his dad wasn't having any of it. We then had dinner wit Jeanne and had a little lesson with one of her daughters. We then tried to see a number of other people, met some new people, one super cool lady, and then we had some appointments fall through but we tracted and found some new people. One dude just wanted to bash us and we kept saying if he didn't truly want to know if what we had to share was true than we have no reason arguing with him. He later went after us to the people we had just talked to and started telling them about how we are false prophets and all this stuff. We never claimed to be prophets, we even told him we weren't. . .anyway it was dumb and quite frustrating and aggravating so we just moved to a different street. We then had a great lesson with a Hispanic family we are teaching.
Saturday we did our studies and then we went to a family that always feeds us Pupusas and we had lunch there. We then drove to Patterson and visited people over there. We met some kids on the street there a couple days before and we stopped by their house and taught them all, which was awesome! Then came home for a language study. We left and had a good lesson with Cody and his fam and then came back for dinner. After dinner we left to Amelia, stopped at some people on our way through Morgan City and then had multiple good lessons with people in Amelia.
Sunday we were on our way to church and we called a member to make sure she knew who would be in her class and we found out we were only having sacrament meeting due to all extra activities and meeting being cancelled so that people could go help out in Florida after hurricane Michael. We did studies after church and then we had some lessons, drove to Morgan City and had a lesson with an older guy at his office and then visited multiple people in Morgan City. And then we ended up back in Patterson tracting for the night and we found 3 new people to teach in the last 15 minutes of the night.
It was a pretty good week. Hopefully this one is even better!!
