Dear Mom~
So, this week has been pretty good! Wednesday was my first District Meeting and I was a bit nervous but it went way better than I thought it was going to go. I spent the whole morning preparing for it. For introducing each other and getting to know each other we played a game called "hot seat" and it's where you sit in a chair and everyone gets to ask you questions and you HAVE to tell the truth, lol. It was fun. I taught the lesson and it went well and there were good discussions. After District Meeting we went on a search for previous investigators of the Sister Missionaries that used to be in this area but the info on them wasn't good so we had a hard time looking for them and had no luck. So we tracted for a while and had no luck with that either. We came home for lunch then had some appointments fall through as usual and then we had nothing left to do so we went to the mall where more people are and went Al-ing which is basically contacting people, talking with them, giving them a card and extending invitations to them. That night we were supposed to eat with a family but they never responded to our texts or calls to confirm so we just ate at home. While at home eating they called us, speaking very fast Spanish, but we understood that they waited for a while, ate all the food and were then about to leave. . . we laughed really hard! They only waited a few minutes and ate the food super fast cuz the call came only 15 minutes after the original appointment, haha.
Thursday we drove to the church in the morning and shot hoops and played bump and pig with the Oak Grove Elders. That morning I tried something new and discovered you can cook eggs in the waffle maker and it is so much easier and the yoke doesn't break!!! It was fantastic! I organized all of our media and books and such things cuz it was all a mess and very random and unorganized. For lunch I tried making an egg scramble with the waffle maker and this also works very well. It's basically an egg waffle. We then drove to Foxworth, MS to meet a part-member family in our ward which is insanely far from us and then they weren't even home so we decided to call and then we realized we didn't even have service. We drive back into service and found out they were at their Restaurant so we went there and visited with them. They let us order something from the menu so we both got a char broiled chicken sandwich which was supposed to be one of the best things. It was so so GOOD!! It was close to dinner though and we still had a dinner appointment to go to and we were already full. We did more contacting out there since we can't tract cuz it's not our area and we didn't want to drive all the way back home just to soon turn around and drive all the way back out to our dinner appointment. Later we went to our dinner appointment with the Valenzuela's and ate more food! We then came home and went quickly to bed.
Friday was more productive cuz we were able to go visit our main investigator on his break at his work which is a Mexican Restaurant called Fajitas. We were able to get to know him a lot more and he opened up to us and we talked about setting him with a date to be baptized. He's pretty cool. We also did our weekly and monthly planning which helped us a lot. That night we went to have dinner with the family that was gonna feed us Wednesday. Their address was wrong though so we ended up knocking on the wrong apartment and a black dude in his 20's answered and we were like whoa that's not the Hispanic family we are looking for LOL so we played it off as if we were tracting, haha. Later after struggling to find this place we figured out that at the beginning we were only one door to the left of where they were at. We came in and it seemed as if they were not expecting us. They speak mix-teco, (a dialect of Spanish which almost sounds like Chinese) not much Spanish so it was pretty silent and really awkward. Only the dad and kids were there and he was just cleaning the house because the kids made a mess. It looked like he had just got off work. Later the mom and the older siblings came home. We thought maybe over the phone they didn't understand that we had set another time for dinner so we shared a thought with them and then were gonna leave but the dad said they were gonna cook food for us. We sat there and no one really talked as he cleaned and the mother and older siblings cooked. He put on Mormon Channel for us to watch in Spanish so that it wasn't so awkward. We felt really bad at first but then realized that they were expecting us, they were just kinda late and act awkward, lol. Anyway it was a long hour that we were there.
Saturday we went to the church to shoot hoops with the Oak Grove Elders again and then after lunch a member picked us up to do service. We helped a member in the ward move so we loaded everything up in a 20 ft. trailer but they didn't have much so it didn't fill it up much and then we drove to the new house. We drove with Brother Lemuse, who we were helping move, and he doesn't speak like any English but speaks clear Spanish and we taught each other Spanish and English and it was awesome. When we arrived, the Branch President had drove the semi on the front lawn and got it stuck in the wet muddy grass. We unloaded and then another semi came and pulled it out and then we all ate pizza. There was a lot so we ate a lot but then that night we had to drive out to our dinner appointment in Laurel so it was another day of 2 big dinners.
Sunday was really good, I really enjoy being able to hear so much Spanish and feel the spirit and learn from it. After church we went to more appointments but of course, they fell through so we tracted on a Sunday afternoon. Then we drove back out to Sumrall and had dinner with two member families. This morning we went to our church building and played basketball for 2 hours or more. 8 of us Elders, just like last P-day and we had some real intense games! They were awesome and I am getting better at Basketball, I still am not good lol but getting better. I got home and realized that I had some pretty good blisters for not using basketball shoes. So I will be saving money to get some cuz that wasn't cool haha but at the same time, I'm not, not going to Ball with the other Elders lol. Anyway it was fun week and this next week we will be doing lots of tracting!!!
Love you tons Mom!! Have a wonderful week!!
